Wheelersburg and Lancaster, Ohio | It’s not all bad. NIL leveled the playing field somewhat. Most schools were already paying players to some extent. Most of the money is coming from “boosters” and alumni. So even small schools with a lot of financial support now have a chance to compete. Here lots of high schools pay players and pull all kinds of shenanigans to get players from other schools. I’m sure the rules will get tweaked as the whole system evolves. The portal definitely needs some better limitations. If a kid goes to a school and doesn’t fit the program they should be able to move to a place that’s a better fit. |
