South Central NE | I apologize if this has been discussed before and I missed it.
I would like to hear what the rest of you think about the NIL money and the Portal system in college sports. It has changed the landscape and I wonder if it's for the better over the long haul? Maybe it's just free markets and capitalism at work.
I used to follow college athletes who played 4 and sometimes 5 years for the same team. Now some of them play for 3 or 4 different teams throughout their careers. And some of the NIL contracts are really something. And they get that on top of a scholarship. I think it will be hard for the NCAA to ever back track on these 2 systems. Could they cap portal money amounts and limit the number of Portal jumps players can make. I'm sure the players agents would probably go crazy over that.
I believe that over time the schools with access to other huge resources will outpace the others. I suppose it has always been that way to a point. What do you guys think about it? | |
