Michigan | Just what do you think you will accomplish? I have an old unverferth, and used it to knock down stalks after no-tilling beans. Sure, it'll pull a few stalks out, and if you go fast enough a few will go flying past you, but for the most part you are just rolling them down. Mine has the spikes in front which have a tendency to plug on loose stalks, so I hooked to the 3pt and raised it up. I sure wouldn't buy one just for that purpose, it's not what it was made for. Instead of tearing up a lighter machine with lots of bearings to replace, I bought a big land roller. The smooth heavy roller does a better job of knocking the stalks down, plus it pushes stones and clods down. Much better experience with the flex head later. | |
