SE, PA | The red bank barn was a dairy with room for around 70 head, but hasn’t had cows in it for over 20 years. We do still use the upstairs to store mostly equipment and straw.
There is a large amount of livestock in the area a mix of poultry, hogs, dairy, and beef. So almost all corn goes to one of several large feed mills within 50 miles. Soybeans may have to go a bit further with Perdue being the largest buyer for their poultry farms. Our local grain buyer within 10 miles has recently started filling shipping containers with soybeans for export through the Baltimore, MD port. | |
