SW OH | I think I can. If you have 6 tires designed to handle 36,000 pounds but only carrying 12,000 pounds the difference in tire deflection makes the truck slide easier on a slick road. Cutting the tire pressure in half or more helps. There may be different tire options for what you want but it you ever want to haul weight that won't work so well.
I bought a cheap single axle truck to pull a gooseneck trailer that was to much for my pickup. It goes back and forth from being over weight and abused to an empty gooseneck in the same week so lower air pressure doesn't work for me. Buying that truck was a great move for me and I have no regrets. You just have to drive it differently when it's light.
