Posts with no location are problematic.

I do NOT like to spread manure prior to oats. Weeds, compaction and lodging come together here.

I also prefer seeding clover or Nitrogen alfalfa with the oats. Here it could be a deal-breaker trying to get the N fixer up and running- too wet or more likely too dry.

I added pics of the red clover sewn with the oats in March of 2024 on September 21 and at the time of baling on October 1.

I don't have pictures from this year, and admittedly it wasn't as good because the oats got soaked in the wind-row by a pop-up cloudburst followed by a couple of weeks of hyper high humidity.

The missing windrows in the pic had been small square baled.
