I have done this to a JD DR24r 22” bar (same as yours). It worked great and really cleaned up the bar.
I just bought the vac taps from jd that are used on a 1770 (A71321), and cut my own seals out of a 1/2” foam gasket sheet. You can also buy the seals from jd (A76606) but they get too much imo.
