Thanks for all the replies
Please go see your primary care doc, get an order for 6 weeks of physical therapy, then you get MRI. Based on the findings of your MRI your primary doc can set you up with a NEUROSURGEON not an orthopedist. Your spinal nerves need to be handled by someone who know what they are doing.
I am home today after having my 2nd microdiscectomy yesterday. 1st was 10 years ago at L4-L5, this one was done at L5-S1 mostly, with a small amount done on L4-L5 again. I turned 40 this year, you are not too young for back problems, and need to see the right doctors to get you back into shape. Let the MRI and Neurosurgeon tell you if you are surgical or if there are other ways to help fix it. I dealt with it a long time before 10 years ago before I was deemed surgical. PT did wonders leading into the first surgery, and put it off for awhile. Plan for 6 weeks of recovery if you go surgical route, and will likely have to be placed on light duty after 6 weeks. My first surgeon who retired told me 12 weeks no semi driving, as truck drivers are his #1 customer. My latest surgeon said 2 weeks, off the pain meds, do whatever you want! I think I'm going to find a happy medium between the two, and really let my body tell me what I can and can't do yet. Today I feel like I will make a full recovery. I have regained all the feeling in my foot that I lost with the herniation applying pressure on my nerves |
