SE Michigan | If you intend to live in your house "forever" I would just get a standby generator. We went that route a few yrs ago and are very happy we did, with the intention of living here forever I don't think I want to be messing with a portable generator in the middle of a cold night when I am older. Usually get a number of responses to go the tractor generator route, but again that's not optimum if you are not home or in the middle of the night, or it's -20 out and nothing wants to start.
I can see going with a big portable if you have other uses for it, but the best long term solution is a permanent standby. | |
