Subject: RE: Advise for first sprayer

Alton, Ia
I'm partial to the Hagie 2100/DTS 10 series, since that's what I have. Mine weighs loaded what a similar single tank machine weighs empty. I plant 24R20 also, 90 ft boom, and it works fine. Outside round right wheel runs between 1st and 2nd planter pass. If the rows are straight (app 20% of my ground) or long gradual curve, will spray with row in corn. Otherwise, straight across. Beans we plant at an angle straight passes, flex up and over terraces, then spray straight square passes where possible. You can spray down row early in beans, but if you are going to make any passes after July 1, you'll start pulling down plants and leaving long gaps of dead. Better to make passes and follow them.

The downside with Hagie is the new owners. The old were a lot better with support, etc. Oh well.....

You can buy a lot of sprayer for your budget, I would look for something, or plan on adding RTK and PWM type nozzles. I read on here how WAAS works, I've given up on it. I've seen 3 ft shifts. Nope. Make passes early, follow them 2, 3 4 x, whatever. Only way you can is with RTK. If you have any kind of curves, PWM will give you better coverage and it's all about killing TWH around here.
