The problem with that is my Geringhoff Rota Disc is very fussy about being exactly on the row, or it leaves long unchopped stalk pieces.
Yes the corn head just pushes them over an inch. I can't say that it causes a noticeable problem but were running a 1290 JD with Calmer stalk rolls. If we get off the row 4-5" then its real noticeable on how well the stalks get chopped.
My cousins do the same thing with a Geringhoff Rota Disc. They've never mentioned that it causes a problem.
