In regards to the 3.0 duramax I’m pretty sure the timing chain/components are at the back of the engine. From what I’ve seen it requires cab removal to get to all this stuff. That is pretty dumb IMO. Personally I feel since 2008 when egr went away and everything went to vvt systems, bicycle chains all over, and stacks of turbos on little displacement engines we haven’t gained much.
