Agree, I can generally always make money on pasture cattle, so long as death loss doesn’t get out of hand. I can’t however make anything penning them up and feeding them, especially finishing cattle. That is a big volume low margin business. Quite a few people around here that will grow them in a yard and sell at 7-800 lbs. pasturing them on paid for land always makes money without the need for a lot of inputs.
