All of the above and more. Smallest cow herd in 75 years. Just think about that for a minute. All the things that have to of taken place to reach that point. I would add that all the so called "improvements" in the cattle industry haven't equated into profitability on the ranch level. 1800 pound cows weaning 600 pound calves isn't efficiency. My Dad had 1000 - 1100 pound wows that weaned 500 -550 pound calves forty years ago. Ya I can spend hundreds of thousands on front end loaders and TMR feeders but they can't replace the four feet and a digestive system designed by nature to convert forage into beef. We have more ways to spend money on cows and the fewest cows in memory, not a coincidence.
