Mr Bowlus - 12/30/2025 05:52 Farmers willing to convert cropland to pasture and set up intensive grazing management systems? I know most guys on “here” don’t want government help but NRCS basically pays you for your fencing, watering systems including winter waterers and even a well if needed. Of course the EQIP program is voluntary but you would think you would see more grazing systems going in, especially since row crop prices are in the shidder.

Maybe... extra equipment cost. Adding profitable number cattle to an operation (not 5 head with plastic buckets), in my opinion, would require a secondary line of equipment. Throw in a few buildings and infrastructure, you have some serious depreciating (liability) investment.
Livestock production, In my opinion, is a methodical steady hill climb. Not a production model you can jump in and out of.
Also time, livestock are 365 days a year. ( very few beach pictures of livestock producers)
The biggest detractor, I believe, would be the wild swings in market cycles.....and if you believe these prices are here to stay....I'm going to just say it...
Your fooling yourself !!!
Was going to say, only an Idiot would believe these prices are here to stay, but, I don't want to be offend anyone:)
