Farmers willing to convert cropland to pasture and set up intensive grazing management systems? I know most guys on “here” don’t want government help but NRCS basically pays you for your fencing, watering systems including winter waterers and even a well if needed. Of course the EQIP program is voluntary but you would think you would see more grazing systems going in, especially since row crop prices are in the shidder.

CRP is a 10-15 year contract.

EQIP can be a 7-10 year contract whereby govt dictates that the land has only 1 use- livestock. Cattle Price and production cycles look really good now vs. crop. But, when corn was $6-7, how profitable was the cow-calf side? When cattle prices were in the tank, how many buckets of $$$ were dumped on the cattle guys?

But, anyone raising livestock knows that the 10 year cattle cycle is anything but predictable other the cycle itself…..
