I’ve got 2 cobetts in my shed. Haven’t had ice yet this year, but usually have to break ice 4-5 times a year on them. Keeping 30’ish head each on them helps but -20f with a wind always does them in
Interesting.
I was talking to a farmer a couple weeks ago about the cobetts as he had a friend that sold them for a long time. When they first came on the scene they recommended to have the water level high with the theory the wind would keep the water moving and free. I mentioned that NAT says to have the water level down low. He said that's not what they started out saying!
Well last night's wind sure didn't keep any cobbets free. Water level low or high they froze. |
