Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I have used Ag Leaders Steady Steer (steering wheel turner) with an InCommand 1200 on my Deere 9770 for two or three years now. I have been happy with it in soybeans. We plant with a 24-30" planter and harvest with a 35' draper.
The draper being 35' (420") is exactly 14-30" (420") rows in soybeans. Since 14 doesn't divide into 24 exactly I am sometimes harvesting on the left or right edge of a planter pass but most often I'm harvesting some rows from two planter passes. This could create a problem with wide "guess rows". Fortunately for me, our land is quite flat so our "guess rows" are rarely excessively wide and the head has a bit of grace toward the total length needed to squeeze in 14 rows. I could cut at an angle but prefer to go straight with the rows since we often bale the bean straw etc.
Unfortunately for you, Steady Steer is not compatible with your Integra. I have no experience with the previous OnTrack systems.
I tried using my Steady Steer for corn harvest but was somewhat disappointed. I plant with the same 24-30 planter and harvest with an 8 row corn head. This means that guess rows are not an issue since I'm generally taking the left, center or right set of 8 rows. However, due to GPS and/or planter drift, the combine was not always exactly centered on the rows since it was following the planter AB lines. I'm not certain if being somewhat off center was causing much harvesting loss. This was with an Ag Leader 7500 with Pro C correction for planting, spraying and harvesting.
To improve this situation, I purchased a steering product from the Headsight folks called Truesight II. This is an electronic steering module that works with the Ag Leader Steady Steer motor to steer the combine. It uses a set of feelers that are mounted on the corn head to literally feel the inside of row 3 and row 4. It does not steer based on AB lines. It works very well.
This means I literally have two steering systems in the combine. The original Steady Steer module which uses AB lines for soybeans and the TrueSight II system that uses the feelers on the corn head. Each is able to use the same Steady Steer motor which remains attached to the steering wheel.
There is some speculation that Ag Leader might add a feeler option to their Steady Steer arrangement which would eliminate the need for the separate feeler system control module that I am using. I have not seen such a product and it may just be speculation on someone's part.
