Subject: RE: Made a DIY Internet Connected Grain Bin Monitoring System

I’d love to have some sort of remote monitoring capabilities in our grain bins but have been reluctant to install anything due to cost as well as perceived reliability. I struggle enough keeping everything online that is supposed to be now: nest cams, dryer monitor, ring camera, WiFi range extensors, standby generator, smoke detectors, solar array, ag leader tractor screens, etc. It seems like between all those online applications something is always offline or needing reset or re-logged into or reconfigured or replaced.

We have probably 15 grain bins at 3 different sites. I’ve never had a grain monitoring system but my guess is that it would be a huge headache to keep all 15 systems talking and working and configured and calibrated, etc. I probably should just start with one on the biggest bin but don’t know which way to turn.

I hope you build something very user friendly and trouble free that is economical as well.
