That is a good plan.
Years ago I read a really good book on investing by John Bogle, considered the father of index investing and original creator of Vanguard investments. I've had several accounts there for many years. Currently have IRA's in some of their funds and brokerage accounts there also.
Too much money in index funds can get to be a problem at rebalancing time but that is a whole nother ball of wax. They can get so big they become the market. But for an individual investor probably not an issue.
