Southern Missouri | In my opinion,it all depends on how seriously you’re going to be using this technology and I can tell you the j150 is going to quickly become on the smaller scale of drone spraying capacity, 30 mph top speed is already on the slow side without mentioning all the larger tank size stuff hitting the market as we speak , just wait 12 months , and I’m not saying this knocking any size drone , I’m saying it in regards to your question of generator sizing , if you truly expect to stay with current daily acreage capacity of a j150 , then that makes a difference, but if you have any suspicions at all of maybe in 12 months going to bigger better faster , the size generator you’ll need will greatly increase at that time , it just will , the latest fastest chargers are 3 phase , and they require some big juice ,plus you’ll need the capability to run everything else of greatly increased size ,pumps etc , if you do wanna speed up ,my opinion is throughly answering that question to yourself before you purchase . Again everyone’s operation is totally different, who is going to operate it day in and day out and how much makes all the difference in the world , being out of chemical droplets and particle drift really matters to some including me, and if you’re doing it a lot , being in the open with maybe an umbrella will , if you’re like me and grew up on a tractor under an umbrella, it’ll quickly make you think of those days and how nice maybe an enclosure with A/C would be ( kinda like getting a cab tractor ) and when that happens ,generator size will go up again , my opinion get a nice diesel 100 kw in sound reducing enclosure ,Ritchie bros sells good ones regularly, we have a couple around , paid almost same price for each of right at 16k , had to
travel to pick them up ,the one we bought last week off Ritchie was outside Baltimore 2100 hrs ,100 kw for 16k ,we’re replacing 58 k generators that became too small , again every operation is different but for the money ,I’d go big slightly used diesel and then let the other stuff fall in place without having to change generators each time ( like a guy I know real well has done ),again all operations are different but 16 k for something you can keep in place for a good while is not monumental
By the way any one looking at those units for around the farm use , I’d look at the ones with Deere diesel’s in them for obvious farmer reasons, ours are both Deere 4 cyl turbos and yes they require def , good reason to be able to swing it buy the Deere shop ,so far we been lucky ,but have plenty of experience with what can pop up
