Subject: RE: Farming Without the Bank

Osage iowa
All I can say is there is a family owned bank in my area that “acquired” some farms in the 80s and they still own them. everyone thinks the banker is your friend but that’s because it’s been 30 plus years since farming has been tough enough to call in the loan and liquidate the collateral. Let’s face reality, farming has been great since the eighties and we’re still riding the ethanol boom. The only farms that have been trimmed was because of excessive spending. The gov has handed out crazy amounts of money so everyone gets a trophy. Bash away and tell me how tough it was, this is just an opinion and generalization from a 42 year old in a nice heated shop with real tools, internet, nice tractors and implements. The generations before me didn’t have extra money for any of this stuff. The technology is about to make farming even easier and the margins are about to get smaller, hang on for the ride. My guess is if times do get though, which I don’t think we’re there yet, the gov will chose the winners. autonomous, will allow even bigger, crop insurance and investor money will assist.
