That is how it is done in most businesses in the USA.There are very few (except in the midwest I guess)employees that are staying where they start.The high tech world has such frequent job transitions that those in the fields of phrama/engineering /comp tech receive a constant stream of job offers.It should not be called "poaching" but job "advancement".It is surely excepted so much that when I have an employee that needs more$$ I recommend them to better paying employers.Pay them better,treat them better,give them more input to decisions etc.I recently gave an advancement to a school district employee.Bettter pay,mileage reimbursement if needed,more time off,fexible hours,same medical coverages.She was top of the line district employee,now she is top of the line at our farm .
