West central IL | What a PROFOUNDLY stupid post. It’s not even remotely true that Christians think December 25th is Christ’s actual birthday, and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen ANYONE strenuously make that argument. I’m sure a search could pull up folks who do, but so it goes with the Internet. Christmas is celebrated at the winter solstice as it was already a tradition to have a big celebration at that time in which a lot of livestock were butchered and it was a time of plenty before the long struggle of winter, so as the pagans were converted to Christianity it was a great way to adopt the true faith while not needing to give up a great yearly traditional celebration. Just good logical sense to use that opportunity to celebrate the saviors birth.
