Merry Christmas Jon.
I looked at a long range forecast yesterday. I don't trust them much............but still, lots of 50+ degree temps even into February. I think on Feb 6th our's said something like a 20% chance of an afternoon thunderstorm with light rain. I guess we'll see about that. Haha!
Today hit 81 degrees. Surely a record for Christmas.
And forget the water on wheat deal. Not spending the money to grow something nobody wants.
I hear ya.
The wheat market has acted like a wet blanket across commodities.. holding corn down.. but for the first time since harvest.. were seeing offers north of $5. Granted, most elevators have very wide bid offers.. and.. given "recent developments" with a Bk.. maybe there is a need to pad margins.. ??
Im not saying we're in trouble.. or even in a drought.. in fact.. personally I'm behind because of a wetter fall.. delaying sowing and development.. my last sown field is just emerging now.
However, earlier sown.. ranker wheat.. for pasture.. which no doubt pays this year.. is probably burning through a bit of reserves.. and the forecast.. is dry.. during a period where that can be the norm.. so.. it just "feels" as if the narrative is changing a bit.. to be honest.. steady to lower prices would probably benefit me more.. so.. why post this?
There's a lot of the younger crowd which could use a rally now.
Here's to a more prosperous 2026. At least we grew something in 25.. but prices weren't anything to write home about.
Cheers. Id add.. "go Chiefs" but.. well.. yal.. 2025 has kind of been a rough one.
