Middlesex County, Ontario | 1. Yes, it is possible to use a cable splitter coming out of a GNSS antenna to send a signal to two (or more) different receivers. Below is a link to such a product.

2. GNSS antennas require active power. These products do not have a toggle switch selection. The splitters pass power from one of the receivers to the antenna, and split the antenna signal to all receivers. In your case you would probably make sure that power comes from your easy to use display with built in receiver, and you would need to remember that this display has to be on to power the antenna to receive signal at your second receiver. The second receiver should not need to be on to receive signal at the first receiver.
3. Is using a splitter even worth the effort? GNSS antennas are not that expensive anymore if you buy outside of the insane Deere/Trimble/AgLeader/Raven markups. A quality multi band survey antenna is like $200. Even a $45 Chinese patch antenna from AliExpress outperforms the Trimble AG25 antennas that we all used for ages. Just stick a second antenna on the tractor?
4. Can you not just unscrew the antenna between systems? Might be too much for some helpers.
5. Can you share more about what you are doing? I had a tractor equipped with both Trimble 500 WAAS EZ Steer and AgOpenGPS (with RTK) for a year. Similar reasons. Explored the splitter but did separate antennas instead. Moved the EZ Steer plug between systems as required. Just for fun make the same line on both monitors and see how bad WAAS actually is, Trimble came out shortly after that. |
