This is really a piss poor subject to get this nasty with folks. Directed at no one particular, just the bottom of the thread for new post to be added. Pretty sure I found out the truth of mystiacl figures about the same age as everyone else on here. Isn't there a place in your being that holds on to these pleasant factions of life that might add a bit of magic to your imagination without thinking you're breaking rules and cammandments? If you think there is isn't with you, then it might be your problem.

Yeah it kind of went off the rails a lot harder than I expected.

Didn't surprise me at all. Santa vs. not is just like till vs. no till or organic vs. conventional, red vs. green equipment debates but this has an extra level of cultural religious fervor. The only Christmas question I'd expect to go off the rails faster would be a discussion of whether Jesus himself is real.

I'm firmly in a "Santa is a cultural tradition that ain't 'real'" family with reasons mentioned in other comments. There are good and bad parents on both sides of the debate though and I certainly don't think that y'all are going to hell over telling your kids that Santa really does slip down the chimney. Not sure how he gets into apartment complexes with a central boiler and houses with a geothermal heat pump though ;)
