I’ve farmed full time since I graduated high school, never had an off farm job, started with some old junk dairy farm equipment and my dad sold the cows and got a job and Mom and Dad helped when they got out of work. Thru Gods provision we grew it from 250 acres to 4,000 and it has been the sole source of income since 2012 for all of us and now a full time employee. I have 4 boys 13 and under and I will encourage them to join me and add to it for their future if they so decide. So no cutting acres is not an option at this point as hard as it is my foot will be on the gas to floor till the day I die or God has other plans! I wish they were old enough to spray but it’s gonna be a few years….

I’d probably train your oldest son to spray. I spent a good chunk of summer spraying when I was that age, and I’d expect you’d have them running something a little better/easier/safer than the Hahn hi-boy I ran. Of course you’re the only one who can decide if your kids are ready to do such things.
