If you want a legitimate conservative write off on recently acquired ground, you don’t need a company to do it. Have a local CCA pull samples, get them tested, and compose a letter that in his professional opinion, there is X amount of excess fertility which at today’s valuations is worth $Y per acre. Have your accountant use the numbers accordingly.

If you want to try to write off every pound of nutrients for maximum dollars, hire one of the big companies that’ll gladly profit excessively from the process and leave you holding the bag if the IRS asks any hard questions.
