West central IL | I dare say I greatly regret the whole Santa and elf thing and how we handled it with my kids. The elf was awful. I felt like I was constantly lying about it being real. And it was sometimes not a big deal, but sometimes a serious nuisance to move. Then when you forget one night the kids start asking why it didn’t move, so more lying. Blah, I hated it. Then on top of that my oldest has always been more innocent than your average kid. Found out there were heated debates going on at school that most of the kids had gotten old enough they no longer believed, but a few including my oldest insisted that Santa was real. That conversation obviously led to embarrassment, sadness, and a questioning of other things they’d been taught. If I could go back, I don’t think I’d do any of it. | |
