unless choke is halfway out. Looking for help getting my old Ford back in shape, but it isn't getting enough gas to run without choke out. Have had the carb apart 3x, checked intake gasket for leaks, and reset timing so far. Wondering if I'm not generating enough vacuum to pull fuel into the intake? Maybe replace the carb?
Anybody got any ideas??
Thanks.........The Dumb Farmer
Not a chance that vacuum is too low to suck in fuel.
Does it have a fuel bowl drain plug where you can see how much fuel is flowing into the carb ? If so, with the plug removed, should run a continous stream atleast the size of a drink straw.
If your getting plenty fuel to the carb and the main jet is adjusted correctly, you may have an intake manifold air leak. Inspect for bad gaskets , cracks or missing plugs.
Also may be weak ignition, a weak spark can more easily light a rich mixture than a normal mixture. Check for strong blue sparks 1/4 - 1/2 inch long at the plug |
