Subject: RE: Question about kids attending funerals

North Central Illinois
Condolences to you and your family. There is no right or wrong answer it is soley up to your wife and you. My folks never took my brother or I to a wake until we were probably ten years old. My brother went to my grandfather's wake and I didn't. I did go to the funeral. I was eight at the time. I have some regrets now about not going but at the time I was kind of uneasy about it so my folks didn't make me go. I remember the funeral very well and it was not upsetting to me as a child. I think maybe your kids are a little young to get much out of it but every family is different. Some people kind of figure the sooner they learn about how life works the better off they will be. I guess I figure there is plenty of time for them to experiences the unpleasantries of life. Why rush it? We did take our daughter to my grandmother's wake and funeral when she was seven. Either way you decide you won't be wrong.
