I look at “late” harvesting as efficient use of equipment.
We plant for 5 weeks in the spring and usually harvest for 8-12 weeks in the fall. My machinery and labor costs would double if I geared up to plant in 10 days and harvest in 20 days.
Granted, we do have drier weather normally so that we can do that.
Anyone else still chasing corn rows tonight?
