Well, the cold facts? I believe the final airspeed recorded before impact was 97 knots. So, consider how things would work if you left the highway at 112 mph and hit an embankment, in a vehicle that has no suspension, steel frame, airbags, etc. meant to cushion the occupants in a collision like most modern automotive machinery has.
Gear was down, seats have some suspension. They were doing 97 knots but hit first on a relatively flat surface at a descent rate that was less than a Cirrus under parachute. So, IMO, they (unfortunately) were not likely killed instantly, but the breakup and fire took them out a few seconds later. Cold fact.
