Agree with this. When they make payments based on planted acres, it helps low yielding fringe acres the most.


100%! Compare a guy who rents ground in eastern CO for $50/ac and a guy who rents ground in central IL for $400. Guy in CO gets a check that cover 100% of his land expense and the guy in central Illinois gets a check that covers 10-15% of his rented cost. What a windfall for the guy out west to the guy in IL. I’m not complaining, just pointing out how the method of payment can really reward some more than others simply based on location.winners and losers solely based on getting the money out the door asap.

If it were my choice we’d let the market decide everything and no subsidies. And if you rent most of your ground, I don’t see how you could possibly think this helicopter money is anything but a pass through because it artificially inflates our inputs. Is anything we buy based on the cost to produce it (hell no)?. It’s all based on what the farmer can afford. This includes not only inputs but land rents. Just my opinion.
