west-byGod-Pa. | Sorry if this is a re-post of something I have posted in the past, but I simply forget.
It is snow season: we have had our first 6”Cher. Also, at Christmas I send out several Greeting cards. My favorite of all time is one covered in snowflakes-which have become an amazing part of creation to me. It was only a few years ago that I saw a short column article in PARADE. magazine that came in the Sunday paper about Wilson A.”Snowflake” Bentley: Jericho, Vermont: born 1865. From his youth, he had a zeal for photography. It was he who developed the technique to photograph individual snow crystals-as he called them. I guess the first successful photo was around 1895. In his lifetime, he photographed more than 5,000 images. It is he who stated first: “ no two crystals are identical”. Science has proven him to be correct. His original image plates are scattered: Smithsonian, Jericho, Vermont Historical Society, University at Rochester & scientific labs elsewhere. You can do a web search & see some of his photos: they are breathtaking. I say all this to express my amazement at creation. What I know of science says to me that they should all be identical-or close to it. I know that it is the work of Almighty God-I just cannot fathom the infinity of it. Just this day, I received a Holiday card with images of snowflakes on it. The sender could not have chosen anything with as much meaning for me as that. Thank you God.
