Many came through Black Sea region. Probably easier to take river boat down Danube and onto an ocean steamer. My ancestors came from Russia, Poland and Ukraine late 1800s.
Quite a journey, probably took months once migrants left eastern Europe until arriving on their homestead somewhere in central NA.
How did the pioneers make it work?
