Iowa
I often think about that. My house has been in the family for 120 years - my great aunt used to tell about having ice form on the drinking water bucket they had upstairs during the night. I often think their living conditions were probably closer to a barn than our current situation (after insulation, good windows). We kinda updated our stuff from the 60’s to current windows, doors, but it’s still an old house. But then again my hog nursery is less drafty than our house when it’s -20 and 40 mph winds. Yeah they were tougher and it isn’t even close.

As some have mentioned I can’t imagine Native Americans or even the sod house settlers. That’d have been brutal.
