Hooker Twp,Ne | These were my great grandparents on dad’s side that came to America from Germany in the 1800s. One Sunday afternoon they went to visit a neighbor and the house they are sitting by burnt down. The 3 smallest in the picture died from the fire. According to cemetery records it was 6 weeks before the last one died. Was told a man from further away came into the community and collected funds for my great grandparents to rebuild. He took off with the money. They did rebuild and had 3 more kids after the fire. The young boy sitting down closes to great grandfather was my grandfather. Great father bought a farm about 2 east and one south of their residence and my grandfather farmed it and my brother owns it today.
