This extension bulletin from Iowa State says you can use Poast to kill grass. I would guess that any grass killer would work.
About the only way I have found that preserved asparagus is good is when it is pickled in long spears. We buy dill asparagus that way at Costco.
Mexican asparagus is in the grocery stores now. Wife grumbles about it but I eat it. Just wash it well.
