95 miles NW of Quitaque, TX | I used Open Office years ago then moved over to LibreOffice. I used excel at the office. VBA is something that is not readable or executable by LO. LO will import and/or save .docx filles perfectectly now. Calc will import excell simpler files with rather complex formulas except for those stated below.
Microsoft Excel is a powerful, paid tool with superior cloud collaboration (real-time co-authoring), advanced features (Power Query, PivotTable, dynamic arrays, VBA), and better handling of large, complex files, while LibreOffice Calc is a free, open-source alternative offering strong basic functionality, cross-platform support (Windows, macOS, Linux), and good privacy, though it has limitations with advanced Excel features like VBA and large datasets. Excel excels in professional, collaborative environments needing deep analysis, whereas Calc serves well for general users or those prioritizing privacy and cost savings. |
