We ran a Fritch for several years and would agree that it is unequaled when compared to the 2 other rotary facers that we had before that. We finally switched to homemade rake like you spoke of this cut our facing time by over 50%. We kept a extra motor on hand and I think we probably replaced each one about once a year. A really good operator can get our rake to look acceptable in haylage but the rotatory facer will be better . We have decided that the additional labor and hrs on equipment required for the rotary facer would not offset the the difference in surface quality. We have since more than doubled the amount of feed fed in a day so this magnifies the labor and equipment costs even more. Still have the Fritch unit if you are interested. | |
