The subsidies are not expiring.

The only thing that is expiring are the emergency supplemental subsidies that were passed during Covid, so that people who were not working would not get kicked off their insurance. What it did, was basically make it so that if you made less than $50K or so (depending on circumstances) your health insurance through Obamacare was 'free', with the government picking up the full tab. Again, the idea of it was so that people who were furloughed or lost their job would not lose insurance as the government would pick up the tab. Even higher income people got more of a subsidy from that.

Now that we are past the Covid pandemic, it has reverted back to the actual Obamacare law as it was before Covid. Basically, what happened is that the government passed a 'temporary' aid package, because of Covid, and now that Covid is over, they are complaing the extra aid is, as well. Seen this playbook over and over again. When Hillary was in New York, there was a bunch of temporary Federal Aid to help out people affected by 9-11. It was passed as a temporary measure to help people in a time of crisis, and when it sunsetted, much of the same thing was heard back then: The big mean Republicans are taking away resources from people, with poor children and minorities hurt the worst. The extra Covid subsidies, like the 9-11 aid was not meant to be permanent, it was meant to help people in a time of crisis.
There is still plenty of subsidies for health insurance. We are on Obamacare, and our subsidy dropped by a bit above $100 a person, per month when the bonus subsidy sunsetted. In my mind, I think it is a good thing that people have to pay 'something' for their health insurance. I would feel even better if people had to pay 'something' for their health care. Would cut down on nusiance Dr and ER visits, and lower costs for everyone else.
