Alton, Ia | Most of our fields have a handful of zones, maybe 5 for seed. One field is unusual and we go more like 10-12. On normal fields, I'm not convinced VRS is THAT instrumental in driving yield and/or profit. It's beneficial, but there's a lot of other yield issues before harvest. If I have to pick with planting w/o a script for some issue, if rain is coming, vs fixing the script and missing the window, the planter rolls.
As to your concern about equipment wear, every time you turn around your drive system is going from zero to 100% in a second, so I wouldn't be worrying about that. It is wild if you get to an elecrtic drive planter, you can have multiple zones across the planter, so maybe 3 different populations being done at the same time. Kewl..... | |
