I do it for two reasons. One is to group similar subjects rather than start a new thread each time at the top of the page. Flybyers will hardly notice and pay attention only to the top of the page. But people actually interested in a subject and worthy of engaging in discussions will look up and down to see if anything interesting has been added to that subject.
Once in a while I will just edit my post and add additional information. Problem with that is maybe someone already viewed it so doesn't open it again and misses the additional information.
I try to watch the flow rate of the page. If topics are flowing off the page in a week, I cut back on my posting. I can remember when you checked in once or twice a month on Kitchen Table there was no chance of missing anything. Everything was still on the same page. It gets better activity now.
If it bothers you I am very easy to ignore. They even offer a selection for just that purpose. You are welcome to use it if you so desire. :-)
