East of Broken Bow | We have one similar, and I highly recommend it. Lets you cook 2 different things at once, or a large amount of one thing. We make our own home made potato chips in ours and start a batch cooking as they are ready. The kids eat them as fast as they come out.
Recipe is super duper simple, to boot. Slice the potatoes, thinner is crispier, thicker is more hearty. Spread them out on a towel or something until they appear dry on the surface, then spray them with something like PAM cooking oil (for this the generic equivalant works just as good). While still damp from the oil, sprinkle a bit of popcorn salt on them, some like plain salt, but flavored salt works too (I prefer butter flavored popcorn salt myself). Popcorn salt works far better than regular salt because it is ground much finer.
Cook at 350* or so until as crisp as you like them, ususally 4-6 minutes depending on how thick you slice them. The first batch will take longer I think because I get impatient and don't wait for it to completely pre-heat.
Alternatively, you can dissolve salt in vegetable oil, and dip the chips in that for flavor. The spray oil does't leave a residue in the fryer like the dipped chips do, but the dipped ones will get crispier. | |
