Subject: RE: Single axel grain truck still used?

Until this spring I hauled 24 loaded miles with gravity box. Was not only one. Bought a couple bottom unload dirt cheap. *one for 2nd redneck pit*
I occasionally hooked 220 bu behind 420 but gravity box. But it was really not worth it.
The empty trip home always took longer. Why I wanted two hauling trailers. Haul first, go home leaving trailer, haul 2nd pull 2 empties home. Maybe even 3. But semi killed that.
Cousin bough single axle gas. He was shocked he did not get 5 mpg. I said that’s not bad.. I get slightly better going to further, better paying location. 3 small towns bought by bigger farmers. *I maybe should have bought one it was offered for $25k in 2000*. Nearest small one is not set up for semi trucks. Barely for grain trucks. Once owner quits. It will be gone. Still see lines of tractors with 200 bu gravity boxes behind IH 706, 3020…
