I'm setting up a 2015 7210R with Ag Leader Z2 steering and InCommand 1200 to steer through the ISO connector on the RH console. I believe I need some sort of unlock for both the Z2 and the Deere screen to do so. I also need to figure out how to best use the implement ISO to control a seeder and an Accudepth. What is the best way to do so, but still be able to use the factory screen if the InCommand is not installed? I don't believe the InCommand would work for Accudepth, right?
When I power up the InCommand, I get the message "Another Universal Terminal was detected with the same function instance as this display. Change the function instance on one of the displays."
This makes me think I am connected right, but need to somehow disable it through the Deere screen. Or do I have to do the "hijack plug" method at the rear ISO connector, and unplug that to go back to the factory display?
I have a somewhat similar situation but it is not 100% identical. I have a John Deere 8310R which we use with a Deere 1770NT planter. I use an Ag Leader InCommand with various legacy Ag Leader modules on the planter. The planter also has an Ag Leader ISO down force module. I do not have need for the factory screen that you mention. I do not know if the InCommand would work with Accudepth.
So in my situation I desire the OEM plug on the rear of the tractor to be used with the InCommand planter setup only. To that end I do use the Ag Leader "HiJack" harness. It reroutes the OEM connector on the back of the tractor to go to the Ag Leader display harness rather than the Deere wiring as it was set up originally. The HiJack kit also includes a terminator for the tractor so it doesn't complain. On my tractor the connector on the rear of the tractor always goes to the Ag Leader InCommand and nowhere else.
If I understand your situation, sometimes you may need to use a Deere display and work with Accudepth. At other times you would like to use the InCommand to work with some ISO devices. I don't believe it would work to have the connector wired to both systems at the same time.
One solution (might be expensive) would be to not use Ag Leaders Hijack cable and leave the original connector and wiring untouched. Then add another connector that mates with the Ag Leader display cable. That would mean you would have two identical looking connectors on the rear of the tractor. One would connect to the tractor the way it came from the factory for use with a Deere display. The "new" connector would connect to the Ag Leader system. You would connect to one or the other depending on what you are doing. I guess you would be able to use both at the same time if for some reason that was desirable.
One downside to this approach is that another ISO connector is quite expensive. The idea of the Hijack cable was to allow someone like me to repurpose the existing connector to be used with my InCommand only.
After I got my HiJack cable and the ISO cable for the planter, I noticed the planter cable had some common disconnect connectors close to the tractor end. It would have been possible to create the ISO connection using those connectors. This wouldn't have been quite as clean as an install using the Hijack cable but would have been quite a bit cheaper. I believe that would have been very workable especially since we only connect/disconnect the planter once a year. If what I mention is true this might be an option for you. In other words leave the tractor connector as is but use another style for the Ag Leader. Maybe not.
I also have SteerCommand Z2 for steering. The SteerCommand Z2 controller mounts on the floor under the seat. It is wired into the 9 pin connector along the right side window on my tractor. My installer was able to hide the wires nicely by actually removing the 9 pin plug and connecting it below the trim piece on the right window. A blank was installed in the trim piece which has no pins in it. The new 9 pin connector is just to "fill the hole".
You are correct as far as the unlock game goes (at least for me some years ago). A third party unlock was needed from Deere. It was installed by a Deere Tech and allows other third party controllers (such as SteerCommand or SteerCommand Z2) to work with the Deere system. There was also a one time unlock needed for the Ag Leader Steer Command Z2. The Ag Leader unlock came through my Ag Leader dealer.
I can engage steering with the screen icon but since the InCommand is mounted high in the upper corner of the cab to avoid Sun glare, it is much easier to use the Deere steering engage switch. It is not possible to use an "add on" switch, the original Deere switch must be used. Steering is most easily disengaged by simply grabbing the steering wheel and turning it. The system reacts by disengaging.
I use an Ag Leader GPS 7500 unlocked and subscribed to Terra Star Pro C. I dislike the yearly subscription fee but it works very well for us. I have also purchased the unlock (forget the name at the moment) that can turn the tractor and planter around on the Headlands. This works very well with this tractor and planter.
