Central IL
Every area is different. Here the Co-ops and end users compete pretty hard on costs and price. Harvest hours are 7 am to 9 or 10 pm 6 days a week and sometimes 7. Lines over 15 minutes are almost unheard of. Unless you have access to natural gas and 3-phase power, the coop will dry it cheaper than you can dry your own and unless you have an employee that needs an offseason job they can haul to the end user just as cheap also. My average coop cost for drying 24% corn and storing half of it for 4 months is around 20 cents per bushel here after patronage distributions. Investing your money on tile or bulk fertilizer handling brings a better return "here".
