I use custom rate as If I wasn't farming my own, theoretically I could be getting paid to do others farming.
That being said, I hire some things done as I do not have the scale to be cost effective. Things like row shutoff to prevent overlap do have savings.
If I hire my dry spread and my N put on, along with my spraying, I can get by with one less tractor. I can also get by with at least one less person.
